EFG London Jazz Festival Mass-Participation Project - Apply Now!
We are now open to applications to take part in the Big Easy Big Band, with Orphy Robinson.
The EFG London Jazz Festival’s free mass-participation project returns with a celebration of Louisianan music led by Orphy Robinson. Come together as a group of musicians to learn and rehearse new music written especially for this project and showcase this work at the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Orphy Robinson is a British jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer who has worked with Don Cherry, Robert Plant and Courtney Pine. The music (both notated and recordings) will be shared with you prior to rehearsals, which will focus on developing ensemble music-making skills, learning and rehearsing the pieces and performance techniques.
The project will culminate with a performance at the Southbank Centre as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival on 24th November. The performance will open the Big Easy stage, an all-day celebration of Louisianan music.
