Led by Axel Kaner-Lidstrom and James Mollison, Where Pathways Meet are carving out their own sound through the fusing of transcendental Sun Ra inspired music with the melting pot of London’s dance music tradition.
Witness outer-space colliding with the vibrations of South East London. A fresh sound in the recent explosion of the London Jazz scene.
In 2017 they released their debut EP “Arrival”, recorded live capturing the joy and wild energy of the music, as well as the connection created with their audience.
“Go see them live and let their sonic spiritual awakenings sooth your soul. You won't regret it.” - Lonely Table
Where Pathways Meet are part of the continuing tradition of artists bringing fresh energy and movement to jazz music, the ensemble perform their own re-workings of Sun Ra’s music alongside original compositions.
The subsequent sonic explosion of otherworldly horn melodies, possessed by spacey effects, backed by dark rolling bass lines, and drum grooves is powerful.
Where Pathways Meet epitomise everything that’s exciting about the community of young South London musicians they call friends and draw as much from the contemporary sounds that surround them as they do from music tradition; amid all the intricate arrangements and the cosmic interplay there are as many nods to West London’s Broken Beat scene and as anything attributable to the Arkestra.
The ensemble features an extensive cast of musicians who are each involved in their own South East London based projects.
