Trudy Kerr is renowned as one of the UK's finest jazz vocalists. To sing the music of Doris Day, Trudy is accompanied on piano by the much in demand award winner Tom Cawley and on double bass by jazz legend Geoff Gascoyne.
Doris Day wasn't just a great actress – she was one of most expressive jazz singers of her generation. Despite the glittering film career that earned her numerous awards and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Doris Day said that the best time of her career was when she was a big band singer. She just loved singing, with a sparkling style and had 'a voice so fresh you could smell it,' - Andy Williams. Even in her 70’s she commented that 'the happiest times in my life were the days when I was travelling with the band'. With her lilting contralto voice, wholesome blonde beauty and glowing smile, she was a top box office draw and sensational recording artist, with many hit songs including 'Que Sera Sera', 'A Secret Love', 'When I Fall In Love', 'Sentimental Journey', 'It’s Magic' and the everlasting jazz standard 'Lullaby Of Broadway'.
Mojo Magazine says of Trudy Kerr that her singing 'is the genuine article - She is a Joy!' All About Jazz has described her as '100% real jazz musician with fluid phrasing and a mellifluous, warm and sensuous tone.' Trudy got her big break when Ronnie Scott asked her to perform at his Club and her career grew from there. She has performed at many major venues and festivals in the UK as well as engagements in Europe, her homeland Australia and the Far East Trudy has released ten albums on the Jazzizit Record Label and has collaborated both live and in the studio with a legion of world class musicians.
