A special screening of the dialogue-free ‘Free Cinema’ classic presented with a newly-commissioned live jazz score for saxophone and percussion.
At this screening we present Together with a new live jazz score commissioned by the Hippodrome Silent Film Festival in Bo'ness. Saxophonists Raymond MacDonald and Christian Ferlaino will perform their new live score with percussion and join the audience after the screening for an informal Q&A.
The story of two deaf-mute dockers, played by artists Eduardo Paolozzi and Michael Andrews, in London’s East End whose disability isolates them from the outside world.
Introduction and post-screening Q&A enhanced by BSL interpretation and electronic note-taking
Raymond MacDonald is a saxophonist and composer who has released over 60 CDs and toured and broadcast worldwide and has written music for film, television, theatre, radio and art installations.
Italian-born saxophonist, improviser, composer and ethnomusicologist Christian Ferlaino focuses on the intersection between composition and improvisation.
