Tord Gustavsen with Simin Tander and Jarle Vespestad (evening performance)
12 Nov 2016
275 Pentonville Road, Kings Cross
Following their sold out gig in 2014, we’re delighted to be bringing back The Bad Plus to the EFG London Jazz Festival in November.
They’ll be playing from their new album, It’s Hard - expect ingenious genre-jumping covers alongside their own uncompromising originals. After a decade together, they continue to redefine what a jazz piano trio can and should be.
‘So, if this piano trio wants to play as loud as a rock band; well, let 'em rip...these bad boys have the musicianship to back up their attitude.’ (The New Yorker)
Opening the show are Binker & Moses. Best Newcomer winners at the Jazz FM and Parliamentary Jazz Awards and Best Jazz winners at the MOBOs, the duo draw on all aspects of black music, their unusual chemistry constructing a sound that ranges from ‘a kind of unplugged dub ambience’ (Jazzwise) via lengthy entwined solos to groove-laden tracks.
