Take Five X Notes Inégales
LONDON Club Inégales
180 North Gower Street
A selection of guests from Serious’ Take Five Talent Development programme join resident band Notes Inégales for an evening of three sets; first from the Notes, the second from the Take Fivers, and they come together for the third, led by club director Peter Wiegold, improvising five new scores that take the inspiration of Miles Davis as a launch-pad.
There have been 80 performances since 2011 at Club Inégales, with guests including free improviser Evan Parker, jazz trumpet Byron Wallen, jazz guitar Lionel Loueke, folk singer Chris Wood, 'cellist Matthew Barley, composer Michael Finnissy, poet Benjamin Zephaniah, writer Will Self, comedian John Hegley, kanun player Maya Youssef and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
In 2017 the club collaborated with the Festival to commission 25 new pieces from leading jazz musicians to celebrate 25 years of the Festival. 20 of the musicians played alongside resident band Notes Inégales.
Take Five guests to be announced.
