Stoop Quintet

LONDON Southbank Centre / Queen Elizabeth Foyer
Belvedere Road

Formed at the University of York in early 2013, Stoop Quintet's diverse and unpredictable sound quickly built them a strong following, and they are now crowdfunding their debut album.

Playing the music of Jonathan Brigg (piano), these five young musicians effortlessly inhabit both the contemporary jazz and classical worlds, fusing bold composition with exciting improvisation. Their music eludes easy categorisation, yet remains extremely accessible.

'Something of a supergroup' (Jazzwise)

'Sometimes the music has a tranquil drift, sometimes it shrieks and swerves with maniacal passion. There is no guessing where the music will begin, nor where it will end up' (All About Jazz)

This show has been programmed and produced by members of Young & Serious, a programme which offers 17-25 year old music enthusiasts an insight into the industry. The adventurous, up and coming Stoop Quintet are a perfect fit for their showcase of young talent.
