View Shows

Samara is a Jazz/Latin band led by the 606's Governor Steve Rubie, featuring talented Brazilian vocalist Liliana Chahian, one of the finest Brazilian vocalists working in Europe and star percussionist Snowboy, ‘Britain's premier conguero' (Jazzwise)

“SAMARA” is a five-piece jazz/Latin group led by the 606 Club's own "Guv'nor" Steve Rubie on sax and flute. The pianist Neil Angilley has worked with the likes of Vanessa Mae, Maceo Parker and Roy Hargrove, Andy Lafone the bass player has worked with Snowboy and Da Lata, while Nic France the drummer has played with just about everyone, including Dave Gilmore (Pink Floyd) and Bill Withers. Singer Liliana Chachian is considered to be one of the finest Brazilian vocalists currently working in Europe, with an unerring gift for melody and phrasing.

And the band’s Special Guest this evening is one of Europe’s most lauded Latin percussion players, Snowboy. Leader of the iconic Afro Cuban Jazz group “Snowboy And The Latin Section”, since their debut in 1985 they have released over 16 albums and played concerts and festivals in over 22 countries worldwide. He includes work with the likes of Deodato, Incognito, Amy Winehouse, Simply Red, Patti Austin and Mica Paris on a vast cv and it is with great pleasure we welcome this wonderful musician and great supporter of the Club to the gig this evening. The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian Samba, jazz/Latin and Soul, and everyone has a great time!
