Acclaimed vocalist Randolph Matthews and his ensemble present their latest exhilarating project, Walter Tull in B Major.

This dynamic, modern composition is centred on the heroic life of WW1 soldier Lieutenant Walter Tull; a soldier who fought during the Great War becoming not only the first British-born black army officer but also the first black officer to lead white British troops into battle.

The work is a music inspired ode dedicated to Tull’s life story, beginning with his childhood in Folkestone and success as a professional footballer right up to his courageous displays of valour in World War One.

With breath-taking vocals, the performance is a celebration of courage and one man’s resolve to live as an equal within society.

'If you get a chance to see him grab it with both hands you will come away connected and uplifted' Jumoke Fashola, LBC Radio

'Check out this Jazz FM Award nominated singer, multi-instrumentalist and electronic wizard with his masterful vocals and a talented ensemble alongside. Randolph is never shy from bringing politics into his music and live shows with a focus on the fascinating story of Afro-Caribbean footballer and WW1 army officer Walter Tull here. 100 years later, Randolph also shares his own passionate story about the Windrush scandal.'
