Having released their debut album this year, this concert sees them celebrate the seminal arrangements of Ahmad Jamal. Magpie Trio is made up of some of London's finest improvisers - Sam Jesson on Drums, George Crowley on Sax - Ivo Neame, Melt Yourself Down, Julian Argüelles and Tom Farmer on Bass - Empirical, Ant Law, Anoushka Shankar. Having released their debut album earlier in 2020 this concert sees them further explore and celebrate more of the forefathers throughout jazz history namely the seminal arrangements of Ahmad Jamal.

"An unplugged sax, double bass and drums trio might seem austere, but not when it’s young drummer Sam Jesson’s band. Jesson’s Magpie Trio (the name implies creative scavengers) explore the legacy of the great Ahmad Jamal on this debut tour; saxist George Crowley and Empirical bassist Tom Farmer complete the picture.” - John Fordham - Guardian
