Loz Speyer's Inner Space

98c Wallis Rd, London
E9 5LN

INNER SPACE plays jazz of a rare warmth and immediacy, with compositions that fuse New Orleans, bebop, and free jazz influences. Spontaneous combustion is the order of the day, with five highly distinctive musicians working it all out in the here and now:

Loz Speyer - trumpet, flugelhorn
Rachel Musson
- tenor sax, soprano sax
Olie Brice
- double bass
Gary Willcox
- drums
…are joined by the winner of the 2018 BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2018 award;
Xhosa Cole - alto sax

Inner Space will play music from their Leo Records album “Life on the Edge” and new compositions developed during recent touring, including Speyer’s jazz portraits dedicated to Free Jazz pioneers - John Stevens, Ornette Coleman and Sun Ra

’The integrity they bring to the emerging free jazz push-pull structure of ’Space Music’ pilots the musicians further towards destinations unknown.'
- Philip Clark, **** Jazzwise

'Superb outing that effectively highlights the leader's jarring and perceptively constructed compositions.'
- Glen Astarita, **** All About Jazz

'Upon listening, I was hooked…. the contrapuntal moments when the horns venture just over the edge make me think that if ODJB had arrived 100  years later they may have sounded like this.'
- Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here.

This concert was previously advertised at Stour Space in Hackney, but has now moved.
