Jazz Voice - Festival opening gala
11 Nov 2016
LONDON Cadogan Hall
5 Sloane Terrace
In her first headline London show in some years, Lizz Wright brings a powerfully emotional live presence to the soulful grooves and honeyed vocal textures of 2015’s acclaimed, Larry Klein-produced, Freedom and Surrender.
With a series of crafted original songs combined with distinctively re-worked covers – including a darkly realised reading of Nick Drake’s River Song – this is the essential Lizz Wright, performing with a terrific live band where her roots in gospel and folk music probe the thin line where sacred crosses into secular.
