Julia Kent’s first UK tour following the release of her critically acclaimed fifth solo album Temporal on Leaf. Daniel Thorne (Erased Tapes) plays an opening set
Receiving rave reviews across the board, Temporal is a meditation on the transitory and fragile nature of existence. Plaintive cello lines floating over metronomic rhythms echo the passage of time, and the emotions that can evoke. Much of the music that comprises Temporal was originally written to accompany theatre and dance productions. For this tour Sound UK has commissioned French video artist Antoine Schmitt (who has exhibited at Centre Georges Pompidou, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Sonar) to create a new video that will provide the visual narrative to Julia's solo performance. Since first coming to prominence with Rasputina and Antony and the Johnsons, Julia Kent has built a dedicated fan base over five albums having done extensive touring across Europe and North America. Performing the first half is Australian composer and saxophonist Daniel Thorne. Like Julia, Daniel is fascinated by the infinite shades of possibility that exist between the notions of acoustic and electronic, composition and improvisation. This blurring of lines is at the heart of his music, creating a unique sonic world that obscures and detaches his instrument’s sound from its more typical associations.
