The glittering extravaganza that opens EFG London Jazz Festival each year.

Guy Barker and the specially created EFG London Jazz Festival Orchestra are joined by an incredible line-up of guest singers as they perform an array of iconic songs ranging from jazz standards to global tunes and originals, with extraordinary arrangements, plus an instrumental celebration of some classic jazz scores, written for the silver screen.

Representing the new and contemporary take on jazz, neo-soul and global music, French-Caribbean singer, bassist and producer Adeline brings a soul-pop touch with her velvety vocals.

Cellist-singer Ayanna Witter-Johnson puts a stamp with her unique sound. Kurdish singer Aynur takes the orchestra to unchartered horizons with her powerful vocals. Neo-soul sensation Ego Ella May, genre-defying singer Michael Mayo, jazz vocalists Georgia Cécile and Sachal Vasandani all manifest the power and beauty of singing, while Lakecia Benjamin joins on saxophone and spoken word.

The orchestra welcomes new members from the buzzing jazz scene such as Nikki Yeoh, Mark Kavuma and Chelsea Carmichael.

This year’s centrepiece will be a medley of some of the greatest jazz scores ever written for the cinema, arranged by Guy Barker.

Scores include Italian Job by Quincy Jones, Ascenseur pour L'échafaud by Miles Davis, I Want To Live! by Johnny Mandel, Alfie by Sonny Rollins, A Streetcar Named Desire by Alex North, The Man With the Golden Arm by Elmer Bernstein, Taxi Driver by Bernard  Herrmann, Anatomy of a Murder by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn and Round Midnight by Thelonious Monk.

This spectacular show will be screened on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and hosted by J to Z's Jumoké Fashola
