Friday Lunch: Glasshopper

LONDON Southbank Centre / Royal Festival Hall
Belvedere Road

Moments of sonic bliss and euphoric rock-outs are intricately woven together by this young jazz trio, led by saxophonist Jonathan Chung.

Chung is joined by guitarist James Kitchman and drummer Corrie Dick to create music born out of a love for melody and improvisation.

Influenced by the free, jazz, rock and folk worlds, the band performs Chung’s emotionally sophisticated compositions with reverence and abandon.

Glasshopper recorded their debut album earlier this year, and are busy with preparations for its release. Hear tracks from the album plus new material at this free lunchtime gig.

an evocative writer whose tunes blended traditional jazz virtues with more modern developments ... a triumphant performance
