Jacob Collier UK concert hall debut

‘I have never in my life seen a talent like this.’ (Quincy Jones)

At this point in time there are two types of music-lovers in the world: those who know the name Jacob Collier and those who are about to.

In the first group are people like Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock who asked Jacob to open their show at Montreux Jazz Festival. Combine that with over 4 million YouTube views of his spectacular arrangements and a sold-out debut of his mesmerising show at Ronnie Scott’s earlier this year and you begin to scratch the surface of this most singular talent.

Jacob will be appearing at the Festival on Friday 20 November in the fourth show of the EFG Excellence Series along with Terence Blanchard — an eclectic contemporary artist who’s made the crossover to the major league with work on Spike Lee movies. Opening the show, Jacob combines multi-instrumental wizardry with a live looping video relay quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen. It will be spectacular, it will be inspiring and it will put ‘a massive grin on your face’ (Jazzwise).

If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, check out his arrangement of Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing. If you think that’s good, just wait until you see him doing it all live at the Barbican.

‘The arrival of jazz music’s new messiah’ (***** The Guardian)
'A star has risen' (Jamie Cullum)
