NYJO London Jazz Jam
LONDON Ray’s Jazz at Foyles (Level 6)
107 Charing Cross Road
Formed early this year, the NYJO Jazz Messengers feature 6 of the UK’s best up and coming young jazz musicians. Brought together to engage young people in listening to and learning jazz, the Messengers have just finished a successful run of performances up and down the country. For this special NYJO Jazz Jam edition, they are coming together once again, giving young people aged 18 and under the opportunity to play with some of the UK’s most promising stars of tomorrow.
The band will feature bandleader Chelsea Carmichael (SEED Ensemble), Shelia Maurice-Grey (Nerija, Parliamentary Jazz New Comer of the Year), Joe Bristow (SEED Ensemble), Arthur O’Hara (Worldservice Project) and Ben Appiah (Triforce)
Whatever your instrument or ability; this is the perfect opportunity to feel at home with pros. These sessions are open to all under-18’s so spread the word to friends, family and fellow musicians! Parents, passers-by and jazz fans are all welcome to stay and enjoy the terrific (and free) music from 12- 3pm. The Jazz Messengers will kickstart the jam with an hour set at midday, then the floor will open to all those who want to jam.
Piano and drums will be provided.
