Jaga Jazzist + Sinikka Langeland with The Magical Forest
- Nordic Matters

LONDON Southbank Centre / Royal Festival Hall
Belvedere Road

£15 - £25

A tremendous double bill in the Royal Festival Hall includes the UK premiere of the acclaimed music from Sinikka Langeland’s haunting new ECM recording, 'The Magical Forest', with a stellar ensemble the brings together instrumental soloists  Arve Henriksen and Trygve Seim, and the brilliant voices of Trio Mediaeval.

Performing opposite them – Jaga Jazzist are one of the most successful and individually gifted  bands to emerge on the European scene this century – but do they play jazz, rock, hip hop, reggae, polka, electronica, classical or choral music?  The answer is all of the above and none of the above – they are, quite simply, a fascinating musical law unto themselves.

Jazz and improvised music from northern Europe has made an extraordinary, worldwide impact over the past half century – and this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival, alongside the Southbank’s year of Nordic culture, come together to create a wonderfully varied all-day event, featuring landmark artists from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

More details of a tremendous freestage programme to follow.
