Groove Baby: Randolph Matthews
Groove Baby – grown up concerts your baby can groove to!
Groove Baby is a new opportunity for parents and carers with babies or toddlers to hear high-quality jazz, groove and contemporary improvised music.
These London-wide concerts create an environment that is relaxed, friendly and inviting to people of all ages. Crying, singing, dancing and playing along are all welcome!
For the EFG London Jazz Festival, Groove Baby presents the phenomenal vocal-voyager, Randolph Matthews and sonic explorer and guitarist, Chris Sharkey. Two solo artists who combine their virtuosic skills with technology to create whole orchestras.
Randolph Matthews takes the audiences on an organically magical journey through his new album material, edge of the seat improvisation and witty stories whilst technology layers his voice. As though sound is erupting from within him, a musical volcano of clicks and glottal stops, jazz percussive melodies and songs composed out of audience members names. You cannot simply watch him perform; you and Randolph become the performance together.
'If you get a chance to see Randolph, grab it with both hands. You will come away with a huge grin, inspired and uplifted' (Jumoké Fashola, BBC London 94.9)
Unfortunately, due to a family emergency Chris Sharkey cannot appear in this concert. Groove Baby apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and promises that the act replacing Chris will be thoroughly entertaining and that the concert will not disappoint!
Tickets cost £10 + booking fee. Each ticket includes 1 x adult and up to 3 children.
